MAST welcomed Rear Admiral Matthew T. Pottenburgh, Commander of Naval Service Training Command, to campus on Sept. 16. Admiral Pottenburgh recognized MAST’s Naval Junior ROTC program for having an unprecedented seven students from last year’s class accepted to prestigious U.S. service academies and for being a Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors for 42 consecutive years. He also personally presented awards to cadets as part of the unit’s quarterly awards ceremony.

Out of 2138 letters from 11 countries and 34 states submitted to the "Dear Poet" contest run by the American Academy of Poets, two M.A.S.T. students were selected for a response and publication in the organization's Dear Poet 2025 booklet! Kate wrote to Nickole Brown about her poem "A Prayer to Talk to Animals," and Vanya wrote to Kimiko Hahn about her poem "Foreign Body."
