MCVSD MAST History Teacher Jessica Cappadona participated in Monmouth County’s Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony, during which she spoke about the great responsibility of teaching the events and aftermath of the terrorist attacks to her students. She annually takes students to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Manhattan, which further conveys to them the importance of civic responsibility and community. This is especially powerful for MAST students, who all participate in the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) as part of their academic programming.

The Sail4th 250 events officially kicked off on Friday, 3 July, at the Post Chapel on Sandy Hook. Six MAST NJROTC cadets proudly presented the U.S. colors during the National Anthem. The week's events include the Grand Review of more than 30 Tall Ships sailing up the Hudson River from the Verrazzano Bridge to the George Washington Bridge, as well as public tours of the ships.
