Fall Rally

From Nitro, to El Toro, to yearly themes, to screaming and cheering. This is Fall Rally at Six Flags Great Adventure. All the MAST kids get on a bus at 8:00am in the morning, psyched to embark on a fun-filled day! They join hundreds of Key Clubbers just like us, but of course, MAST looks the best with our obnoxious shirts. We cheer and scream for our Lieutenant Governor every time they speak or make an appearance. The reminders and speakers really get everyone pumped for the rest of the year, and also a tad bit intimidated because of the very exorbitant goals. However, Key Clubbers are optimistic and know that we will not be satisfied if we fall short of our goals by District Convention. And when the rally concludes, of course the day doesn ’t! Key clubbers get to ride all the rides until 5:00pm! It is a blast for everyone who is able to attend. Make sure you attend next year’s Fall Rally because this event is something no one wants to miss out on! During the 08-09 service year, we cheered for LTG Melissa because she was one of the people who planed the rally for the entire state of New Jersey. The most exciting part of all was listening to Kia Alberston-Rogers speak, the International President of all the Key Clubs in the world! He was the nicest person ever; a regular young guy, just like us, who happened to be in charge of Key Club all over the globe! And because it is the middle of the service year, the District Officers and Lieutenant Governors did a great job of reminding everyone that $117,300 is the New Jersey District goal and that we must meet it to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital again!

Key Leader

Since 1925, Kiwanis International has positively impacted the lives of young leaders through its youth leadership organizations: Key Club and Circle K. Many credit these programs for their first taste of leadership , including senators, governors, university presidents, corporate executives, and a United States president. Kiwanis International announces Key Leader-a new leadership experience for today's youth leaders. It will focus on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership development experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership- leadership comes from helping others succeed. Recently, a task force of professionals with more than 175 years of experience in teaching, coaching, developing, and encouraging young leaders was asked to invent something extraordinary . The result is an exciting program designed to move beyond where most other youth leadership programs stopped. The result is Key Leader.

District Convention

Hey NJ Key Clubbers! Congratulations on getting through the first half of the 2008-2009 service year. I hope you all "got sporty with service" at the Fall Regional Training Conferences, enjoyed your "quest for service" at the very famous annual Fall Rally, and are looking forward to "walking the red carpet of service" at the sixty-third annual New Jersey District Convention! That's right Key Clubbers, the theme for District Convention (DCON) has been set to Hollywood and planning for this event is already well underway. This year, District Convention will be held from April 17th to the 19th in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The exact location for this incredible event is the gorgeous Valley Forge Convention Center, which just a short bus ride away from the largest mall on the east coast, the King of Prussia Mall. Apart from the mall, however, there is so much more to get involved in at DCON itself. This three-day absolutely stunning weekend will be packed with fabulous activities, a motivational speaker from the Carolinas district, several competitive contests, scholarships, and, of course, a whole lot of celebrity-themed dancing. DCON may be six months away, but it is never too soon to start planning, fundraising, and counting down the days to the NJ Key Club's version of Hollywood. It's a weekend that you absolutely cannot miss!

Inductions

Once a year, the MAST Key Club gets together and holds inductions for its new members and officers. All of the inductees' friends and family are invited for a nigt of Key Club. We share presentations about the service year and the different projects we run. Next, all of the new members are invoked onto the stage and are presented with a Key Club pin. The officers are then presented with similar pins denoting them as Key Club officers. These pins can be placed on the NJROTC Uniform, 1/4" above the nametag. Finally, cake is served and refreshments are served and the night is concluded.
